Review : The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson. I had heard good things about this book which is a YA Fantasy. The plot intrigued me. A princess decides to run away in order to escape an arranged marriage designed to forge an alliance with another kingdom. She goes to the person who helped her friend when she was a child and works at her inn. Two men come to stay at the inn . One is the Prince trying to find her and the other is an assassin trying to kill her. They have both been tracking her and arrive at the same time. They both give phony back stories. They both develop feelings for her. And so it begins. There is also a ssecret that is developed during the story .                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Ok so Mary Pearson ends this on a cliffhanger so I am eagerly awaiting the sequel.I now need to find out what happens next. The story free  me in after the slower start of introducing the characters and world building. The usual misunderstanding  is included in one chapter. There are elements of danger, intrigue, and suspense. There are elements  of romance. There is kidnapping. There is a strengthEned is friendship. A the good elements of a rip roaring good story. I liked how the author portrayed the contrast between the best and worst in human nature. Our heroine has a certain nobility as well as bravery.                            My rating:3.5- 4 stars.

Spring is in the air

Ah spring! The weather is warm. The flowers are blooming. It is the time when people's minds turn to thoughts of....books. Whether that are old favorites or new releases everyone wants their beach read. There are many exciting offerings around to consider throwing in  your beach bag with your sunglasses and SPF 30.   How will you make your decision? One year I selected books which took place in typical vacation destinations like Hawaii and Mexico. This year  I have been playing it cool with the Alaskan Courage series by Daniel Pettrey. This is an inspirational romantic suspense series  which, as its name suggests is set in our chilly and beautiful state of Alaska. It follows a family which runs an adventure  excision company. They are also divers and search and rescue. Along with romance and intrigue we get a glimpse into the inner world of the characters.  So far I am up to book 4 Silenced. I have enjoyed reading the first three.                                                                            Book one was Submerged. This book introduces the McKenna family to us as well as the main protagonist of this selection who was an old high school girlfriend of one member of the clan.  A relatives body  has been recovered from  submerged plane. Incredible family secrets emerge. Life changing developments ensue. All of the ingredients you're looking  for in  suspense novel.                                                                                                             Shattered is book two. One of the clan a professional snow boarder has been charged with a young womans murder. The family along with a friend from the local sheriffs office must find the real killer. In the process they find out that the victim is not what she seemed to be.                   Stranded book three sees the family assisting an investigative reporter in search of her missing colleague. where is she? what was she working on and is the cruise line involved?                                                                              This just the beginning of my summer reading adventure. There are many new books being released in different genres that I want to read. Stay tuned.
